3rd officer’s Common checklist before arrival in port on ship

1. Confirm all arrival documents are completed, signed, and stamped as applicable.
- Prepare the following common port documents:
• Crew Lists
• Crew Effects Declarations
• Stores Declaration
• Last Ten Ports of Call
• Maritime Health Declaration
• Nil List
• Vaccination List
2. Ensure all LSA (Life-Saving Appliances) and FFE (Fire-Fighting Equipment) are in place and in good working condition.
3. Confirm Drill Records and Training Records are complete and up to date.
4. Verify fire plans are updated with:
• Crew lists
• MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets)
• Cargo stowage plan
5. Ensure Port Contacts Information Sheet is updated and Usually displayed in:
• Bridge
• Ship’s Office or CCR (Cargo Control Room)
• Messroom
• Gangway
• Engine control room
6. Update Deck Log Book with:
- Weekly and monthly maintenance records
- Records of drills and trainings conducted
